Thing One - "the singles"
Hoboken, NJ based Thing One claim on their MySpace page that their music is, "Tropical / Christian / Death Metal ", which just proves that the guys don't take themselves too seriously. Their music is indie dance rock, just not like you're used to hearing. The 3 songs on this EP show very different aspects of their musical talents. "Move it" sounds like a bastard child of Devo and the BeeGees. "The theif" is reminiscent of early music from the Police with a bit a reggae rock vibe to it. "The kid with pointy shoes" opens like "life in a northern town" from The Dream Academy, before becoming a mid-tempo rhythmic song that really spotlights the vocals. I love the diversity of "the singles", and hope a full-length album is in the works as I suspect there is even more to this band then these 3 tracks show us. www.thing-one.com |
